At sq-m2 we take our environmental obligations and responsibilities very seriously. We are aware that the office refurbishment industry in which we operate not only contributes significantly to UK landfills but also to CO2 emissions.

We understand our clients' concerns for the environment, and that the sustainability of their business is a key priority.

sq-m2 offers clients a fully managed waste recycling service that is provided by our suppliers. This service will provide reporting and data which demonstrates a breakdown of materials removed from site and the extent to which it is recycled. Wherever possible waste will be recycled, reclaimed or reused.

We work with several companies offering recycling solutions for stripout, removal of goods from site and construction by-products being placed in landfills.

Procurement of Sustainable Materials

Sites can have the most efficient and effective environmental strategies, however the selection of materials and the procurement, fabrication and delivery of such materials is key to the sustainability of projects and their ongoing life cycles.

sq-m2 was recently involved with a corporate fit-out project that was sourcing much of its materials from another country. We met with the design team and client and discussed how to reduce the carbon footprint involved in the materials and their transportation.

Wherever possible and on invitation, sq-m2 will advise on the selection and procurement of materials whilst  being mindful of the design teams' expertise and requirements. We ensure that timber products are sourced from locations that are approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and that deliveries of materials are undertaken in an efficient manner.
